FAQs
Most health insurance plans have physical and occupational therapy benefits. We offer complimentary verification of these benefits to find out if we are in your network, what they will cover, if you have a co-pay, and what other expenses you may incur. We also offer cash pay options, and discounted rates for pre-paid multiple visit plans.
Yes! We accept prescriptions/referrals from a variety of medical professionals such as a Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Chiropractor, Podiatrist, Physician’s Assistant, etc. In California, some health insurance plans require you to obtain a prescription prior to starting physical therapy, however, under the Direct Access Law (AB 1000) many PPO insurance plans and Medicare allow for a patient to be treated by a physical therapist for 12 visits or 45 days (whichever comes first) without obtaining a referral from a medical provider. If you are a cash pay patient, we do not need a prescription/referral for the first 12 visits or 45 days. We will call your insurance company for you to help you determine if you need a formal prescription. At this time, a prescription/referral is required for all occupational therapy patients.

Wear loose athletic clothes and shoes with easy access to the area being treated.
On your first visit, your therapist will gather your medical history and provide a thorough evaluation of your condition. This may include tests to measure your range of motion and strength, posture and gait analysis, and an assessment of your current functional baseline. Your therapist will then determine an appropriate plan of care, and most often will have time to begin treatment and/or provide a home exercise program catered to you.
Your doctor (or medical professional) will often recommend the frequency and duration of your therapy and the area to be treated (i.e. 2 times per week for 6 weeks, or 3 times per week for 4 weeks). Once these have been completed you can discuss further actions with your therapist and/or doctor. Some conditions may need a few weeks of treatment while other more complicated conditions may need a few months of treatment. If your insurance benefits run out, we offer discounted rates to continue as a cash pay patient.
This depends on the type of surgery you had and the severity of your condition prior to your surgery. The healing from surgery may take a few weeks to a few months. This is a question to discuss with your doctor and therapist during your visits so you can develop a full understanding of your condition and the amount of time you can expect to recover.
This varies depending on your plan with the therapist, but estimate each session lasting about an hour.
