Dr. Neil A. Tayyab, is a distinguished orthopaedic spine surgeon known for his expertise in minimally invasive surgical procedures. He currently serves as the Chief of Orthopaedics at Scripps Memorial in La Jolla and practices at Girard Orthopaedic Surgeons Medical Group, Inc., in San Diego.

 

Dr. Tayyab graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he also completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency. Further honing his skills, Dr. Tayyab completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Spine Institute of New York at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.

 

Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Tayyab specializes in treating a wide range of spine conditions, including scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, vertebral fractures, and osteoarthritis. He is exceptionally skilled in cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement and is a strong advocate for using the least invasive surgical approaches and techniques to ensure that that patients receive the most advanced and effective treatments with reduced recovery times and minimal discomfort.

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Tayyab has worked in some of the busiest trauma centers in Chicago, including Cook County Hospital, gaining extensive experience in handling complex cases involving trauma, tumors, infection, and deformities.
